In honor of my hometown baseball team winning the World Series, I offer you this touching serenade. Have your hankies at the ready.
I have all this new artwork (from the summer) sitting in a neat little stack, ready to be listed in my shop. 3 collages, several hand-painted mini-journals (moleskine), and some ink drawings of sea creature ladies. I love some of these things and I am excited to post them.
I have also promised the public 6 whole new Specimen designs from my Beastiarium series (making a total of twelve since I started them) by Christmas. Woah! I better get cracking. I'm making one tonight and plan to list it by the end of the week.
I am participating in the Locust Walk Arts Fair later this week. Come see 'em in person if you live in Philly. I'll be represnting with the Philly Etsy Street Team.
I have been approached by 4 different shop/gallery/handmade boutique places about carrying my work on consignment. I am totally interested in that. Gotta follow up with those this week too.
The moral of the story is, if you work at your job about 70 hours per week, you gotta get REAL lean and mean about doing the other things you are passionate about in those other hours. I'm learning. This job is kicking my behind, ad its totally RAD. And, wondercabinet remains really important to me. There is nothing quite s satisfying as making something with your own hands, and selling it to someone from someplace you have never been, and packaging it up with love and bringing it to the postoffice. Its a whole loving ritual for me. Its a good transaction. (Confession:) Im a raging anticapitalist. But this is good commerce. And, ve ry penny of my income from i is going into gettign myself out of debt, which is going to be my biggest masterpice as an artist!
So I started this blog and did 3 entries and then it totally stalled out. That's a little embarrassing. I still haven't mastered the art of writing a blog entry in 10 minutes, nor have I remembered that that's about all the time anyone has to READ blog entries anyway. No, I have to sit there and work on an epic essay for 3 hours and then give up because of the research and fact-checking I feel like I would need to do to complete the story to my satisfaction. I am WAAAAYYY too type-A about it (who determined the "types" anyway, and what is Type B? Type C?). So this entry begins my new life as a spur-of-the-moment, spontaneous blogger. Sarawearsskirts is my role model in this regard. Her blog is very entertaining and sweet, and she really does talk just like how she writes. She is my Etsy coworker! We laugh while working together. Yay.
